If you are using windows, find an empty space on this page (sorry, no photo of my head will pop up) and click the right side of your mouse on it. It should bring up a small window, now look for where it says "view as source". Now click on this and you will see what HTML is all about. HTML is an abreviation for H yper T ext M arkup L anguage. All those words in angular parentheses tell your browser what to display. Neat, huh?

Before you go, you will need to know that this place is not just about html, it is called "MY VIRTUAL REFERENCE DESK", and you will want to put it into your favorites folder, because this place is chock-full of information. When you get there, you will need to find where it says "search refdesk.com for:", and enter "html tutorial" and then click on the search button. Now take your pick of all the cool sites that are displayed, and you are on your way to learning about html.

Actually these are more than just paint programs, you can also retouch images in them, and change a bitmap (BMP) file to a JPG or GIF or just about anything else you want.

Now you need a way to keep up with how many people actually go to your page. You can either download a simple counter that counts hits, or one like I have that counts how many different people visit your new site. There are even some that will keep up with exactly who visited your page, I hear.
